Travelling had always been our way of refreshing our minds during summer breaks or short holidays. Me and my family take an interest on different cultures and places. We travelled around Europe, United States, Philippines, Hongkong, Singapore, and Macau.
Although we like travelling very much, we had to deal with the stress such as transportation and check ins. When our family travelled for the first time, it was hard for me to cope especially jet lags and the unfamiliar climate. I was 9 years old back then so it wasn’t really my responsibility when it came to the differences of policies. My parents looked after us and made sure we didn’t go against the rules. Jetlag was the hardest for me to cope. For about a week, I’d wake up not feeling rested. I really disliked the feeling but it didn’t stop me from enjoying the trip. Year 2011 was my first time to travel out of the country. Upon arriving at our destination, it was a shock on how different it is on the outside world especially Europe. My homeland, Philippines is completely different compared to Switzerland. The country was what I call paradise because it was rich when it came to nature. The place was really clean. I loved the climate and adopted pretty fast. It was at that time that I realized, I still am very ignorant. There were lots of new things to learn from an advanced and well-organized environment. I also took an interest with their language. The language wasn’t new to me but it was really hard to communicate with my friends and grandparents. It was this experience that encouraged me to learn more. I find learning new things really fun.
